What is grass-fed beef?

Hello everyone! I'm the owner of Fusubon! Today, I've heard that a new store that mainly serves grass-fed beef has opened in Kurakuraen, so I decided to check it out. The store is called GOOD GOOD MEAT.

I had the opportunity to meet and talk with the vice president, Mr. Kawabe. First, for those of you who are wondering what grass-fed beef is, I will explain the characteristics of grass-fed beef.

What is grass-fed beef?

Grass-fed beef is basically beef that is not confined in a stable and fed corn or other feed, but is raised free-ranging and primarily fed grass .

Characteristics of grass-fed beef: It has a lot of lean meat and its fat contains omega-3

Grass-fed beef is characterized by a lot of red meat because it moves around a lot and does not eat much grain. Japanese beef has not received much attention in the past because of the culture of marbled beef, but it has been attracting attention in recent years because it is rich in nutritional value, such as high protein and omega-3 in fat.

It is known that blue fish such as horse mackerel, sardines and mackerel are rich in the essential fatty acid omega-3, but this is because they eat plant-based plankton. It is for the same reason that cows that eat grass-fed beef are rich in omega-3.

Grass-fed beef is truly a great ally for those restricting carbohydrate intake!

GOOD GOOD MEAT's Commitment

Currently, he deals with 100% grass-fed beef from New Zealand and Akagyu beef from Sanzanmura, Aso, Kumamoto Prefecture. He owns a pig farm in Tokachi, and in the future, he plans to work on making grass-fed beef from domestic Japanese black beef available on a farm in Tokachi. He said that he wants people to feel the story behind the beef when they eat it, such as what kind of food it is fed and how it is raised.

Tasting grass-fed beef

For lunch, I had grass-fed beef filet and sirloin. Although it was lean, it wasn't tough and I was able to eat 300g in no time.
